After nearly 1 1/2 years, the Ketogenic diet is coming to an end. Finally!
Midget had a check up with Neurology today about the diet. After a lot of thinking (mostly on my part), we've decided it just isn't helping him enough to continue on with it.
The goal was to get him off medications and instead we've had to increase some. Not to mention he still has some seizures every day anyways. They aren't hindering him developmentally nor causing him any more damage or pain... no.... as a matter of fact.... my child *laughs* after a seizures. Dork. *snort*
I have a friend whose daughter has way more seizures in a day than Midget. Really I shouldn't complain if he's having half a dozen as compared to 50 or 60. Six is a far better number! (Zero would be even better but that will never happen and I'm ok with that now.)
So over the next few months we will slowly wean him off the KetoCal formula by adding in diluted PediaSure (diluted so he doesn't sail up the growth charts again as his weight is perfect right now) and once he's down far enough to come completely off, we will move him to a blenderized diet (which I'm honestly looking forward to)!
I also asked the team if it was possible that this diet could have played a part in his brittle bones. They said it could be possible so they included measuring his calcium levels through his blood work to see how low they might be. If they are super low, we'll likely have to add in a calcium tablet or something but I won't know about that until next week when they get all his numbers back.
I'm sad to think that poor Midget's life won't be getting any easier by getting rid of his seizures but I also know this is for the better for all of us. I'm at peace with the fact that we've tried the diet and essentially failed. It was the most likely outcome for him and I knew that from the beginning. At least I can say I tried to give him a little piece of normalcy. Can't fault a mama for that!

Project 365 - Week 2
8/365
Itty Bitty had his 2 month check up last Friday and got a bunch of shots. I figured I could cuddle him and make him feel better while taking photos. Course this is the only good shot I got because he wouldn't stop moving. *snort* (If you've been following my blog, you know this is also the start of my Project 52. I won't always have the same picture in both projects but today I am.)
9/365
It took me until 11:30 pm to finish it but it's done! Our first dungeon for D&D. I wonder how it will go!? Guess I'll find out starting tomorrow (Sunday).
10/365
Whatcha mean there's laundry to fold? All I see is a mama relaxing with D&D! *snort*
11/365
Seriously... who told Itty Bitty he could grow up so fast!??! And this was after he'd been pushing up for a few minutes. He was up a lot higher than that just before I took this photo. *tear*
12/365
As I was getting Midget ready for school on Tuesday, I realized (again) just how big he really is! He's got such long, hairy legs it just blows my mind! *snort*
13/365
The only thing that physically hurts me worse than my own aliments is watching my children suffer. Today was no exception. Midget had a horrible coughing/choking episode at school that sent us to the ER for a couple of hours.
14/365
What a truly horrific day for all of us! We found out today that Midget broke his leg at school yesterday. We still have no idea how but Midget held up tramendously well with all the things the docs had to put him through. He's quite a strong, little trooper! He's been feeling a lot better since his leg was stabilized in the cast. I just hope he heals fast! The first spica cast was a nightmare... I can only imagine how bad this one will be!

4 Generations
Mr Indy's dad and grandpa stopped by today. Of course I saw the opportunity and took it! *grin*
4 generations... a photo I hope Itty Bitty will treasure as much as I treasure the ones I have of my family!

WARNING: Photo overload about to commence!!
I've been very, very snap happy lately. Here's the proof! *snort*
Midget tries going to sleep before leaving for school a lot.... but this day I managed to annoy him awake. *snort*
Itty Bitty had some appointments at Children's last week. It was just him and I that went so I spent a good portion of my time taking photos of him for practice. *grin*
Definitely click on this next one to see it big! The small photo does not do this one justice AT ALL! *grin*
Itty Bitty had his 2 month check up on Friday. He was quite the trooper having to get 3 shots and an oral vaccine. He came home and just sacked out for hours.
And last but not least, one I snapped last night. LOVE IT!! *grin*
Hope you enjoyed the photos! Check back soon for more! *smirk*

Project 52 - Week 1
I decided to do another project this year. It's goal is to get me out from behind the camera at least once a week. *giggle* So each week I'll be doing a self portrait with at least one of my boys (and yes Mr Indy is included in that list... just in case he's reading this *snort*).
Without further ado, here is week 1's photo.

Project 365 - Week 1
Enjoy!!
1/365
I was sitting there holding Itty Bitty when I realized I hadn't yet taken a photo that day. So I grabbed up my camera and just started snapping. I can't help but realize how blessed I am when I look into his gorgeous eyes!
2/365
It only took 4.5 months of badgering plus a large black scuff on the wall but I finally got Mr Indy to hang a photo!! Now if I can just get him to hang the rest of them (see the stack leaning against the wall? LOL).
3/365
Itty Bitty puked all over himself first thing that morning. I decided the catch lights were so awesome in the bathroom (without the lights on) that I had Mr Indy bring me my camera. I know this photo is completely out of focus but it's freaking adorable (or as my friend Cathy would say "fradorable")!!
4/365
This photo really doesn't do the snow justice! *snort* In the hour the boys were at therapy today, it went from a slight rain to full on downpour of HUGE flakes of snow! I barely made it up the driveway when Itty Bitty and I got home! *gulp*
It won't be often that I post more than one photo per day but there will be some days when I do. *grin*
5/365 - photo 1
Midget going to school after a nice break. He actually started back on Monday (January 4) but doesn't ride the bus in the morning because of therapy.
5/365 - photo 2
I was just going to do the photo of Midget until I realized just how much the laundry had piled up again. I guess my New Year's resolution isn't off to a very good start. *sigh*
6/365
The best photo I could get of Midget having fun at therapy. The Achieve Center is in the midst of a remodel so the OT is limited on things he can do with Midget. Fortunately for him, the swing is Midget's favorite therapy tool. (And yes he kicked his boot off before he got on the swing! *snort*)
Another 2-fer day! *snort*
7/365 - photo 1
My original idea was to get a shot of these adorable shoes a friend passed along to Itty Bitty... but they didn't turn out so I'm glad I happened to snap some barefoot shots while we were prepping Itty Bitty for his CF test. His feet are so different from Midget's! Midget's are wide and fat, Itty Bitty's are long and skinny! *giggle*
7/365 - photo 2
A day to chronicle... with a big fat NEGATIVE ending!
This was during the prep for the CF test. They put this little machine that has electrode type pads on it that stimulate his skin to make him sweat. He had a red square and circle on his arm for most of the day after the test was done (and yes they went away).
Stay tuned for week 2!

Dustin' off the cameras!!
I realized not long ago that my cameras were just collecting dust. Oh sure I'd pull out my Kodak here and there for quick snaps but that's not the same as taking a real photo... well at least not to me. My Sony has sat back there in the camera bag aching to be held and snapped. So this year I've decided to do Project 365. It's actually making me think about my photos and attempt to get better ones. *grin*
Prepare yourself! I'm on photo overload today! *smirk*

================
I'm going to limit myself to posting my Project 365 photos once, maybe twice, a week. Any photos taken that aren't a part of my Project 365 are however fair game to post as many and as often as I like. *smirk*
I'd like to add a disclaimer that Itty Bitty just happens to be the easiest person to get a photo of right now. I'm not purposely ignoring Midget or Mr Indy.... although I don't think either would complain about that fact. *snort*
All of the following have been taken within the last few days.... Enjoy!!
